Hello again! The morning of the 28th of April, 2017 was spent inventing a little more extravegant of a dog treat. These, based on the VitaBone dog treats which Mandy loves so much, are chicken and sweet potato flavored. However, I did leave out the barbeque flavoring, so these are a bit plainer. Please note: These treats need refrigeration due to the meat! Yield: About 60 Anyway, I started out with a boiled chicken breast, which I cut into very small cubes. After which, you'll need to peel and cut into very small cubes a small sweet potato. Transfer sweet potato cubes to a microwave-safe bowl and macrowave for 2 minutes. Remove 2 or three spoonsful from the bowl and microwave the rest for an additional 2 minutes. Mash the rest of the cooked sweet potato with a fork, and mix in with the chicken and the cubed sweet potato. As you can see from the bag, I use King Arthur Flour, White Whole Wheat. Anyway, I think I started out with about 2 1/2 cups of the flour, into which I mixed the diced chicken and sweet potato, and the mashed sweet potato. Heat a cup of water for about a minute. Add powdered chicken boullion, mix, and add to the flour/chicken/sweet potato mixture. *NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT THE BOULLION IS SODIUM FREE. DOGS CANNOT HANDLE MUCH SALT. Mix well. Keep some extra water, and some extra flour, handy, because you may want to add a little of one or the other, to change the consistency. When you have your desired consistency, you'll need to roll out handsful of the dough at a time. (You can't roll out the entire lump of dough at once...at least, I couldn't.) Line cookie sheets with foil. The cookies can be placed close together, because they do not rise. Note: This made many more than are show...this is just a sample photo. Bake at 350 F for about 20 minutes. This cooking time is just an estimate...Please watch during baking. And a finished, warm-from-the-oven cookie! And, as usual, Mandy thanks you for stopping by! Have a wonderful day! And, lastly, a cute picture of Mandy trying on my glasses. "Do these look good on me?"
