Well, it's been a long time since Mandy and I stopped by to give you a recipe, but that doesn't mean I haven't been cooking! It just means that the recipes have been ones I have used in the past, and why post the same thing twice? But on Wednesday I cooked something a little different. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, pork isn't necessarily the best meat for your dog, but once in a while, it doesn't hurt. I found a package of assorted pork chops, for .99 a pound! Here's what I did with it. So, I started out with a well oiled cast iron skillet...you can use another kind of pan, but make sure it's well oiled. Heat the pan on a relatively high heat. Once the pan is heated, add two pork chops, or however many fit in your pan. Let them cook on one side, until they really start to sizzle...a minute, approximately. Flip. Cook on other side for the same amount of time. Flip again, and turn down heat. Keep flipping every couple of minutes, and check the inside after a while to see if they are getting cooked thoroughly. As you'll see later, they don't have to be completely cooked, though. Repeat process with the rest of the pork chops. In the meantime, cut up the vegetables. You can use any vegetables you like, but please make sure they are safe for your pet, before you use them. So get creative! I used: 2 Italian squash, Several green beans Some baby carrots, chopped 1 package of celery hearts 2 Small cucumbers When the vegetables are chopped and the pork is done, cut the pork into bite-sized pieces and boil together with the vegetables. (Leave the cucumbers out of the pot, though, because cooked cucumber just doesn't sound too appetizing!) Use your judgement for how long, but be sure that the vegetables are soft enough, and the pork is completely cooked through. Remove from water, add cucumbers and cooked brown rice, if desired, and mix well. And there you have it! All ready to package up for a very happy, very pampered pooch! Thanks for stopping by! Happy cooking!
